This page explains how RW Currion Electrical usually works, including quotations, access, payment, certification, customer-supplied materials, guarantees and cancellations.
It is intended to make things clear before work starts and should be read alongside any written quotation. If anything different has been agreed in writing, the written quotation or written agreement will take priority.
Quotations
All quotations are provided free of charge and are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
Due to changing material and supplier costs, quotations may need to be revised if work is delayed significantly beyond the quotation validity period.
Quotations are based on the visible condition of the electrical installation at the time of inspection. Additional work may be required if hidden defects, unsafe wiring, damaged accessories, poor previous workmanship or other unforeseen issues are discovered during the work.
Scope of Work
The quotation covers only the work specifically listed within the quotation document.
Any extra work requested by the customer, or required because of hidden faults or unsafe existing wiring, may be quoted separately before proceeding.
Unless specifically included within the quotation, electrical work does not include plastering, decorating, flooring repairs, building work, specialist making good, data/network setup, Wi-Fi issues or configuration of customer apps and smart devices.
Standards and Certification
All electrical work will be carried out in accordance with current BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and relevant Building Regulations where applicable.
Where required, appropriate electrical certification and Part P notification will be provided on completion.
RW Currion Electrical holds £5 million public liability insurance appropriate to the nature of the work being carried out.
Access to the Property
The customer is responsible for providing safe and reasonable access to the work area.
Furniture, flooring, loft spaces, cupboards, stored items or other obstructions should be cleared where possible before work begins.
RW Currion Electrical cannot accept responsibility for delays caused by restricted access, blocked working areas, unsafe access, lack of parking, or areas not being ready when work is due to start.
Electrical Supply Interruptions
Electrical power may need to be isolated during testing, inspection or installation work.
RW Currion Electrical will aim to minimise disruption wherever reasonably possible, but some temporary loss of power should be expected during many types of electrical work.
The customer agrees to allow RW Currion Electrical reasonable use of the property’s electrical supply for work-related tools, testing equipment, battery chargers, lighting and other equipment needed to carry out the agreed work.
Customers should make suitable arrangements for sensitive equipment, alarms, freezers, computers, internet routers, medical equipment or anything else that may be affected by temporary power interruption.
Existing Installations
Electrical installations can deteriorate with age and may not comply with current regulations.
During work or testing, previously unknown faults may become apparent. RW Currion Electrical cannot be held responsible for faults relating to existing wiring, accessories, appliances or equipment outside the agreed scope of work.
If existing wiring or equipment is found to be unsafe, damaged or unsuitable, further work may be required before the original work can be safely completed.
Customer Supplied Equipment
Where customer-supplied fittings or equipment are installed, RW Currion Electrical cannot guarantee the quality, compatibility, lifespan, safety or manufacturer reliability of those items.
Under BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, electrical equipment must be suitable for its intended use and comply with the relevant British or equivalent recognised standards. RW Currion Electrical can therefore only install equipment and materials that are suitable, correctly rated, compliant and supplied with appropriate manufacturer’s instructions where required.
RW Currion Electrical reserves the right not to install equipment or materials considered unsafe, unsuitable, counterfeit, damaged, incomplete, incorrectly rated, non-compliant or of questionable origin, including suspect products purchased through online marketplaces.
Proof of purchase, instructions, technical information, conformity markings or receipts for customer-supplied equipment may be requested and should be made available where required.
Warranty cover applies only to workmanship unless otherwise stated. Manufacturer warranty claims for customer-supplied equipment remain the responsibility of the customer
Damage and Making Good
Reasonable care will always be taken while carrying out work.
Minor disturbance to decorations, plasterwork, surfaces, floor coverings or finishes may occasionally be unavoidable during electrical installation work, fault finding, testing or cable routing.
Unless specifically included within the quotation, plastering, decorating, tiling, flooring repairs and specialist making good are not included.
Waste Removal
Unless specifically stated within the quotation, RW Currion Electrical is not responsible for the removal or disposal of waste materials, packaging, rubble, furniture, fittings or other items from site.
Removal of old electrical accessories, fittings or equipment is not included unless agreed in advance.
Payment Terms
Payment is due upon receipt of invoice unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Bank transfer details are shown on the invoice.
VAT is charged at the applicable rate and will be clearly shown within the quotation and invoice.
RW Currion Electrical reserves the right to request staged payments or deposits for larger works, special-order materials or works requiring significant advance material purchase.
Cancellations and Changes to Bookings
The customer has the right to cancel agreed work prior to commencement.
For consumer work agreed by phone, email, online, or away from business premises, cancellation rights may apply under the Consumer Contracts Regulations. Where applicable, customers will usually have a 14-day cooling-off period.
If the customer asks for work to begin before the end of any applicable cooling-off period, the customer may be asked to confirm this in writing.
If work has already started at the customer’s request, the customer may be required to pay for the work carried out up to the point of cancellation, along with any materials already supplied or specially ordered.
If specially ordered materials have already been purchased at the time of cancellation, supplier restocking charges may apply and will be payable by the customer.
RW Currion Electrical reserves the right to cancel, postpone or withdraw from scheduled work before commencement where necessary due to unforeseen circumstances, supplier issues, illness, unsafe working conditions, safety concerns or other reasonable factors.
Any deposit or payment made for work not carried out will be refunded, excluding agreed costs for specially ordered materials, restocking charges or work already completed where applicable.
Warranty
RW Currion Electrical provides a 6-year workmanship warranty on completed installation work.
Where materials, fittings or equipment have been supplied by RW Currion Electrical, manufacturer warranties remain subject to the individual manufacturer’s terms and conditions.
Manufacturer warranty claims may require inspection, proof of purchase, product registration, return of the faulty item, or assessment by the manufacturer or supplier.
The workmanship warranty does not cover customer-supplied equipment, accidental damage, misuse, alterations by others, fair wear and tear, lack of maintenance, power surges, water damage, pest damage or faults relating to existing wiring and equipment outside the original scope of work.
